NBME Score Corellation with USMLE Score

This is a question asked by anyone soon before it is time to take the test. The best way to find out if you are ready is to take the NBME Self Assessment Exam. The site can be found by CLICKING HERE. It costs $45 for each assessment. More information about the assessment exams can be found HERE.

Here is a table representing the score correlation between the NBME Self Assessment and the three digit score you can expect to receive on the real exam.

I think there are 6 NBMEs out there to take. I heard some are easier/ harder than the others. I'm taking the CBSSA with the school next year.

Yes, Step1 has 6 nbme forms! Form 1-4, the difficulty level is 1<2<3<4. No idea about 5 and 6!
Is there any new Nbme forms for step2 CK!?

Thanks a lot for posting this. Any ideas regarding the offline NBME score correlation?

    3 Methods:

    • Score = (% x 2.4) + 84
    • Number of correct answers(out of 200) X 1.456
    • Number of correct answers X 4. This one gives you the score out of 800 and then you go to the table and convert it into a 3 digit score.

You can try any of those method. Needless to say they are just approximation. No one really knows ho the actual scores are derived.

    Cheers!

Thanks. I doubt the first 2 work. I tried the formulas with 2 known online and offline scores and they were completely off. The closest one was multiplying correct answers with 1.3 but then again, the scores were anywhere from 5 to 20 points off.

Maybe NBME just gives us random numbers to throw us off.
