No one learns in the same way - even the evidence suggests that there are loads of different types of learners. I'm an junior doctor in England and I found 1st and 2nd year at Medschool (primarily science-based, similar to your pre-med) hideous, as I wasted hours staring blankly at a textbook and wishing I was anywhere else. Lists didn't work for me, mnemonics were slightly more helpful but the evidence behind them isn't brilliant.
What I found was that getting a bit creative with studying helped me so much. Making terrible puns about conditions, writing little puzzles for group work - this sort of thing. Then I started using podcasts (Medpod 101 is a fun one) and apps (Ward Round is a great shout). Mixing things up really helped me: it could help you too.

As a side note, I found this kind of approach so useful I set up a website based around the whole idea. There's loads of case-based roleplay stuff there, long case podcasts and 6 second long videos using Vine. Check it out on ****Medical Education - hope it helps If I can learn something in 6 seconds, so can anyone!
