Thread: Criticise it!

A 35 year old male, fist time found to have blood pressure 168/92 with normal lipid profile and normal blood sugar levels. Write prescription.

Rx,
Tablet Lisinopril 5mg
- send such 10 tablets.
- Instruction: One tablet to be taken at night.
Advice:
-Come for follow up after 10 days.
-Fat free diat
-Avoid smoking.

well i m not agree with u buddie because of following reason

a single bp is not enough to label a pt hypertensive atleast 2 readings are needed

secondly the first approach is to reduce the wt and modify life style like excercise and quiting smoking and alchol

rule out the secondary causes

and well acording to nice guidelines <55 ace in are correct choice .

This is all right. But if you have to give him medication, then? suggest what fault is to be corrected?

~I think lisinopril should be replaced by beta blocker something like atenolo 50 mg.!
~Once daily is right.but it should be in the morning.!

no yaar for mild HT always start with Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg daily..

I agree in the change to propranolol 50mg but its gonna make the dude tired so split the dose 25mg qam and 25mg qpm. 50mg qam will prevent him from hitting his max HR while he excercises. Oh...actually lets tell him to excercise qam before he takes the beta-blocker! Obviously the excercise and diet advice is also indicated.
