Thread: Hearing loss and possible tinnitus

Hey everyone!

First of all, I want to say what a wonderful site this is! It is a good idea to get some opinion online because some of the ENTs that I have seen have no clue into what is causing my hearing loss. I have had a hearing loss for the past couple of years. From the reports, my GP told me that I have got a conductive hearing loss in the left ear and a right mixed hearing loss. The right ear has the most severe hearing loss according to my hearing test. I have also done a MRI and a CT scan and have got the results on disc. Just wondering if it would be a good idea to somehow upload it here? According to my MRI, it did mention something about a mastoiditis in the left ear and hence, according to my GP, she thinks that is the reason for my ear infection. I saw a couple of ENTs a while ago and neither of them told me that I have mastoiditis! They told me that my pressure was due to something else and as a result, I did have a grommet inserted into my left ear. I don't think the grommet is helping, as I am still having the hearing loss and pain in both ears. Sorry for rumbling on like this as I do have problems with my hearing and excuse me if this doesn't sound flowing in any way. I would appreciate any advice on this because it is affecting my health as I do find it hard to sleep due to the hearing loss and tinnitus. I am also a piano teacher and also would like to pursue my psychology career but at the moment, am lacking the confidence to listen well. Cheers!

Hello! I have done another CT scan of my petrous bone and the results are the same as my previous MRI. It states that I have do have a left ear opacification of the mastoid air cells and bilateral vestibule and semicircular dysmophic but once again, when I saw the ENT, they told me that it is not a mastoid infection. Why don't the ENT believe that it is a mastoid infection? Unfortunately, the doctors who wrote the radiologist report can't speak to the patient and the ENT was reluctant to call them. I got a copy of the CD but I don't know how to copy or upload the CD on this site?

I have uploaded my CT scan report and have tried to copy all files from my CD of my CT scan but can't seem to see them on my end. Your ct scan findings showing bilateral dysmorphic vestibule and semicircular canal, dysmorphic oval windows and stapes, which seems to be congenital.
Since how long are you having problem?
Without examination, we can not help you.
Consult some good ENT surgeon.

Hello... The CT scan also mentioned a left ear opacification of the mastoid air cells but because I don't show any signs of fever, is this why they didn't think that I don't have mastoid?
