Thread: Post Graduation in Europe....!???

Hey folks..

I'm thinking of persuing my post graduation course in Europe (say Romania or Bulgaria)...i have zeroed in on a couple of universities or med schools, whichever way you wanna call it...

i would like to know...

1) if anyone here is studying in Europe?

2) anyone knows any information about medical (degrees offered by)studies in Europe?

3) is it worth studying in Europe (cos i see the degree would be valid in the whole of European Union)??

4) could i come back to India and start my thing?

5) what are the future prospects for me worldwide??

6) can a student work while studying??

Any sort of information or help is much appreciated...

I'm an American studying medicine in Poznan, Poland in a english medical program. After the 6 years of medicine and passing all my exams I will become a M.D. In order to be eligible to work in the European Union u will need to do a 1 year residency/ internship (not entirely sure whats it is) in the country u graduated in, (so poland in my case) but u will need to know the language in that country to do that residency/internship. There are intensive language courses which people take. After u finish that residency/internship thing u will be a recognized M.D. in all of the European Union.

My plan is to finish my studies here in Poland and go back to the United States (I'm from new york). I will need to take the USMLE steps 1,2,3 and get into a residency program in order to get a license as a practicing physician in the USA.

Its depends on the country u want to practice and their rules/licensing measures.

I came to Poland b.c they have a 6 year md program for students who graduated from high school. I didn't want to waste time and of course tons of $$$ on universities in the USA. Poland has tons of medical schools all over, but Poznan, Warsaw and Krakow have the best ones. I really like here in Poland. Since Poznan is such a big city, u can do whatever u want. I mean more in the sense if u want to go clubbing or whatever u want to do. There is even a growing indian population here. The polish women loves foreigners haha and polish girls are beautiful and the beer here is good and cheap, haha.

Europe is also full of history and culture. I can take a 3 hour train ride and be in Berlin or take a 2 hour plane ride and be in a completely different country and culture, which i think is awesome. Though the dollar is killing me now w/ the bad exchange rate !!!! but other than that I really like it here.

I think Romanian is too far east, try looking into Poland or Czech, which are much more friendlier to foreigners. If u want to work, u can, classes are flexible. I would recommend learning polish first.

Thanks for the reply and sharing information. Can you give me some links to the colleges you have in poland, so that i can look through them and maybe try my luck in Poland. I would be really glad if you can help me with it and try to pitch in the approximate costs etc...for studying, accomodation and living..would be more than handy...

My school is called Poznan Univ of Medical Sciences, www.amp.edu.pl, the school's website. The medschool in Cracow, is called Jagiellonski Univ, and Warsaw I'm not too sure.

I really don't know, I know we have transfers from other medical schools in Poland. I think u would have to ask the school. Send them an e-mail.

I just know about Poland, and I heard that people also go to Czech to Charle's Univ??? not too sure.
Don't know anything about the other european med schools.
