the answer is "bile duct".

from SABISTON'S text book,
a)the anatomy of the portal vein is relatively constant and has much less variations
b)anomalies of hepatic vein or IVC is rarely reported
c)the common description of the arterial system to liver and biliary tree is present in only in 60 % of cases.thus variations occur in upto 30 - 40% cases.
