Cool Music Therapy

Hi friends it was my strong desire to research in the topic of music therapy.and i have started this job now.god has given me the good talent of singing so why should i hide it?so what i am learning i would like to share with you friends.

Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses. Music therapy interventions can be designed to:

promote wellness

manage stress

alleviate pain

express feelings

enhance memory

improve communication

promote physical rehabilitation.

Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in a wide variety of healthcare and educational settings

What do music therapists do?
Music therapists assess emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through musical responses; design music sessions for individuals and groups based on client needs using music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric discussion, music and imagery, music performance, and learning through music; participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ongoing evaluation, and follow up.

How can music therapy techniques be applied by healthy individuals?
Healthy individuals can use music for stress reduction via active music making, such as drumming, as well as passive listening for relaxation. Music is often a vital support for physical exercise. Music therapy assisted labor and delivery may also be included in this category since pregnancy is regarded as a normal part of women's life cycles.

How is music therapy utilized in hospitals?
Music is used in general hospitals to: alleviate pain in conjunction with anesthesia or pain medication: elevate patients' mood and counteract depression; promote movement for physical rehabilitation; calm or sedate, often to induce sleep; counteract apprehension or fear; and lesson muscle tension for the purpose of relaxation, including the autonomic nervous system.

The human body is like a musical instrument, expressing numerous frequencies and rhythms in a constantly changing spectrum of life. It responds and resonates in consonance with music, sounds, speech and thought from the environment, and undergoes changes of heart beat, breathing, blood chemistry and circulation of energy in various organs of the body.

Certain sounds have negative and destructive effects over the body. When such sounds are received and registered by the Chakras (The Energy Centers) and cells, the balance or equilibrium of the energies is disturbed. This abnormality produces a pressure over various organs, systems and cells and ultimately over the entire body.

In this system of Sound Therapy, specific sounds are used that deal directly with the root causes of imbalance by:
--Purifying and re-organizing the energy patterns that surround the individual in the form of an ever-expanding and contracting magnetic field (AURA).
--Penetrating the human body through the skin, the chief sensory organ, and balancing the frequencies of Chakras and cells, thereby regulating the flow of energy throughout the entire body.

Music therapy deals with problems related to the mind and its complexes; to emotional imbalances; and finally to physical problems.

Very interesting topic. Never really heard about this being a profession. I sometimes turn on classical music or soft rock to chill out. Do you know of anyone who's been to these sessions? Are there any cons to this?

hey asrafee its awesome.i have studied this music before.and i had lost it.now u have provided me my missing link.yea it is not same to same.but relaxation aspect is same.nice job.now i would like to describe the effects of 1st music on our body
(1)the voice of organ modulates the activity of our sympathatic system and regulate it.
(2)the mild changes in organ voice altitude modulates our EEG.and normalize it.
(3)voice of water acts on our reticular activating system and circadian rhythem.it is the major factor in relaxation.
(4)other small voices just regulates our hypothalamic temperature regulation center which gives us feeling of coolness.
this is the starting of my reaserch.i will share more when i will get more deep in it.

Cool

sorry friends for my being dormant since long time..
now i am gonna give some mind blasting info about music therapy
we have heard that HEAVY METAL DJ songs affect our ears badly..
is it true??????
let me tell u that yea friends it is 100% true..
tympanosclerosis and thining of tympanic membrane as well as ossicular chain discontinuity cases are noted day by day..
but the positive part of this is amazing..
wanna know about it?????
then here it is:
DJ music is very similar with the patern of our EEG..
i am talking about most of the musics..
so some music may not be like that..
u will feel sleepy and irritated as it gives speed to ur brain waves..
as if u r throwing a stone in a silent water..
but u will say "what is positive in it?"
let me tell that some of the cochlear dysfunctions can be treated with this DJ therapy..
though negetives are there..
but some sensory neural deafness can be treated by stimulating the 8th cranial nerve by this therapy..
but negetive is tht it can affect vestibular functions as well as general efficacy of people..
brain waves can be modulated by typical type of DJ music..
hypnotizing can also be done by special type of DJ music..
presently scientists are searching on uses of DJ therapy for hypokinetic personalities..
as DJ can make their EEG regular and give them new enthusiasm..
lets hope tht may this kind of mind blasting DJ music used in therapeutics..
will mail u new info regarding DJ..presently busy with studies..but my new DJ therapy reaserch demo music is under process.if it goes successfull then will surely put it in this forum..

Music isnt just 'relaxing', a company called I-Doser have been using music, or just 'sound' to produce certain brainwaves that matches brainwaves produces by harmful substances. The idea is to get to euphoric state of mind those substances like heroin or ecstasy gets a person into, using soundwaves. You can read all about it here www.i-doser.com

A pretty interesting theory, which i have tried myself, but the thing is, you need extremely good headphones which are quite expensive, to be able to produce those certain soundwaves normal headphones or speakers cannot.

And it takes like 45 minutes and above of listening to annoying sounds to get to the claimed euphoric state. Didnt work for me.
