Obesity is, quite simply, an excess of body fat. Usually anyone who is 20 percent over the normal weight for his or her Age, Sex, Build and Height is considered as obese. Being overweight is a contributing cause of many preventable illnesses. Even moderate overweight puts an undue stress on the Back, Legs, Joints and Internal organs and this can eventually exacerbate many physical problems and compromise health. Obesity increase body's resistance to insulin and susceptibility to infection and puts one at a higher risk for developing Coronary Artery Disease, Diabetes Mellitus, Gall stones, Hypertension, Stroke and other problems, that result in premature death. The risk for obese in pregnancy is almost double and chances for normal delivery are reduced. Obese person suffers psychologically as well as physically because our society tends to equate Beauty, Intelligence and Success with fitness.

TIPS ON FIGHTING YOUR FAT

*COUNT YOUR CALORIES

Count the number of calories you consume. Try to maintain a balance between calories consumed and calories burnt.

*DRINK MORE WATER

Best way to weight loss is to ditch the sodas and drink approximately 8 glasses of water a day to stay hydrated and healthy. It also helps to flush out the toxins from the body.

*EAT MORE MEALS

Eat small frequent meals. About 4-6 meals per day depending upon hunger. Avoid heavy and large meals as it increases the fat storage

*CHOOSE PROTEIN AND CUT CALORIES WISELY

Choose protein rich foods for boosting your metabolism and enable your body to burn fat rapidly. Take a step-wise method to cut your calories intake, which helps in maintaining metabolic rate.

*AVOID MARATHON WORKOUTS

Biggest mistake people make when looking to burn fat and lose weight is to workout for long sessions. Instead breakup your work plans in 3 small sessions, which will help to maintain the BMR - Basal Metabolic Rate.

*TRY A LOW GI DIET

Try to consume high amounts of foods with low ranking on the Glycemic Index. This diet includes many favorites fruits, vegetables, dairy and grain products.

*ADD VARIETY WORKOUTS

Try to engage in a variety of exercises that will keep your interest and best allow you to maintain your goal of burning fat. Include activities like Yoga, Aerobics, other sports etc.

*STRESS AND FOOD BAD COMBINATION

Do not eat when you are in tension, stress, anger, depression etc. as it is difficult to judge how much to eat? And mood fluctuations cause excess or small release of digestive juice which can lead to Indigestion, acidity etc.
