Physiotherapy on Roland Garros 2008
Hi, so... this is a thread for those whos watching tennis that is going on right these days in France, Paris.
Today I was watching Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic on Roland Garros, two tennis players from my country, Serbia, matches where they won...
The thing I have noticed was some bandage around Jelenas forearm. Also that bandage was and on her opponent player forearm, Agnieszka Radwanska. I noticed also some elastic tape on their backs of lower leg. Maybe there was more things that I have noticed on these tennis matches but I cant remember right now.
The bandage on players forearm, I think, is to stabilize forearm muscles, to prevent their amplify elongation during backhand punch; prior to muscles extensores of forearm and carpi that is proximal attached on lateral epicondyl of bone humerus. This got a lot common with pathology called Epicondylis Humeri - Tennis elbow.
The second thing I wanted to say is that elastic tape on their backs of lower leg that I cant really figure out for what they are...?! Elastic tapes are pasted on players lower leg and back of their knee. I suppose it is also to prevent too much of muscle elongation, maybe during the servis punch or to stabilize leg muclses on this slippery ground... dont know the right reason...
So, if you have something to add to this topic, I would read and think about it with pleasure cause I love to watch tennis, especially cause of our 3 tennis players in man and woman single competition is on top 10 world place on ATP and WTA list.
...guys, sorry if my expressions of medical terms arent quite right and commonly acceptable, Im from Serbia and maybe my english isnt so good.
Thanks!
