perhaps they are bad at spelling the drugs' names, so they conceal it by writing badly...

Simple cause: We have much lengthy papers, so have to write in much hurry so obviously our good handwritings also converted into bad after 1st year..

My reason for bad handwriting is med school! Granted my handwriting was never that great to begin with but these past few years I've had to write so much crap and I had to write fast so I dont miss anything. Coming from the states I never had this problem. But in India, man the writing never stops!

Sloppy handwriting among doctors is legendary.

1) Because after years of studying, taking test & taking down notes it sometimes seem that its tiring to write things down.

2) Because in class there mind used to be nippy therefore prompt minded match next to quick writing.

3) Because doctors have to write a large volume of paperwork would cause their writing to be sloppy. They don't have time to write neatly.

4) Because it make it very difficult to try to forge their signature.Layman being able to interpret or forge doctor's orders.

The burden of handwriting analysis falls largely on nurses & pharmacists left to interpret the chicken scratches that are a doctor’s instructions.People who have to read their sloppy writing can easily make mistakes.

it goes like this i think so.. im in internship now.. in my starting days i write everythng legibilly... days gone now im in villaga hospital i have to see 100 patients in 2hrs...where best we can adjust time r compromise is our writingna...so there starts our problm... later it vll become a habit....irrespective of time... we write in that doctors language only.....cheers...
