Someone’s risk of suffering a myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke is more than doubled in the first 30 days after the death of their partner, but the excess risk then attenuates, UK research has shown. Authors of the study, published in JAMA Internal Medicine, say their findings suggest an opportunity for better preventive care during this period.
