old hat.
Everybody knows it. As long as you have free markets in the healthcare industry, tuff to contain this.
Lets start by making any financial exchange , from a drug company to a doctor, illegal. Other steps can follow.

most definitely they do. If you see the prescribing habits of doctors, especially Physicians, you will see the trend. Half the drugs are unindicated and nothing more than placebos so that the companies sponsor foreign jaunts and local conference trips.

medical companies are a business organization, and like all business will do any thing to keep up profit.the practitioner of this noble profession should be ethical and keep up high standards befitting their position of trust and faith which their hapless patients place in them and discharge their duty concentiously

Ha ha, have you seen the reps? I think Schering-Plough gave a girl I knew a raise when she got implants.

absolutely prescription habits are altered. and it is on both ends too. patients often come in after watching a commercial and request a prescription for a particular medication. perhaps that medication is not at the top of your list because of cost or other reasons, yet you are still more likely to prescribe that particular med because the patient is more likely to comply.
