Unhappy Treatment of Guillain Barré (Urgent)

This is urgent. I've got a relative suffering from Guillain Barré syndrome. He responded to treatment very well. But i want to hear the opinions of Doctors or any patient about the risk of relapse. Harrison says 85% people are without any sequel. Please, i need your opinion and anecdotes urgently.

Has anybody seen a case of GBS progressing to Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy(CIDP) ??

What i have seen is several patient treated with gamma globulin in early stage with fast recovering.
and Plasmaferesis with not as fast recovery but very useful when gamma globuline is not available

only one patient with GB and late treatment do not improve but do not worst. long term follow up and physical therapy got some improvement.

Thank you my friends. Treatment was with IvIg. Thank God the diagnosis was made very fast. Deep tendon reflexes returned but there is loss of muscle mass. He is apparently Ok but quite weak. Physiotherapy has been started.

Do corticosteroids (prednisolone) have any beneficial effect??

Default Treatment of GBS

Amal, to gain muscle, your uncle needs to take about 3 grams of proteins per former 1 kg of his body mass(for ex. 80*3=240 grams of protein daily). You should buy him concentrated whey protein to mantain this protein intake and calculate how much he does need to take it with his standard diet to get the needed protein intake. Next, buy him concentrated fish oil-he should take 3 grams daily, and 20 mL of flax seed oil. To improve his neural performance (whey and omega-3 will also do great job) buy him glutaminic acid, glutamine and l-tyrozine (these are aminoacids) as seperated products. Also, he should take 2-3 grams of vitamin C daily and drink at least 2 L of pure water and also 4 cups of green tea. Buy him also zync, magnesium, calcium and selenium (not multivitamins!!) and if you want also B complex. With help of God, your uncle will heal.

I've forgotten to tell you that you should try to buy aspartam-free products.
