which is better?

My opinion: USMLE is faaaar better.

But... (yes, there are buts)
1. Its a lot easier to qualify for an Indian PG course than for the USMLE (or so some say)
2. You will be in the country atleast, and your mom won't go bonkers about "my tiny beta leaving the country"!!!

The reasons I feel that USMLE is more worthwhile:
1. Standard of education is better than MOST (read 99.999999%) of Indian colleges.
2. It pays good!!!
3. You will get a chance to further specialize there directly.
4. You will get a "videshi" degree, which, I am somewhat sorry to say, patients hold in high regard in our country.

But these are MY OPINIONS. I am not saying that they are correct or anything. They are just what I feel.

its all depend on ur personalfeelings....i came to know that we have to prepare in diff ways for both... for step1 start 4m 1st yr... but indian pg exams more q's vll b 4m final year subjects... so we have to concentrate more on these.... 1 more thing i heard that it takes almost 5 to 6yrs to get clearng all steps nd gettng degree... in india u can try twice nd get a good seat... this vt some vl feel.... letz chek others say....
