Eddleston and Pierini decided on a completely new approach: Robert Davidson and Robert Wilkinson were brought in as co-editors; 29 international experts contributed sections to the book. Some experts wrote everything from scratch, others just read through and commented on what we had written. Many others were involved in advising, correcting, and improving the text. Every sentence has been checked, and scarcely a paragraph remains un-altered. New sections have been added, reflecting the fact that medicine in the tropics is not just â€کtropical medicine’ in the old-fashioned sense of parasitic and infectious diseases. Guidelines from the WHO and other sources have been incorporated where possible
