i could not agree more about powerpoint presentations. I have a difficult time in a staying awake in a dark room for four hours. we still have one or two old school professors that use a whiteboard to illustrate concepts, and those professors have the highest attendance too. what is the point of just listening to people read off of a powerpoint? I can do that in the comfort of my own house if the lecturer is not going to add anything to the notes.
but online and electronic resources are awesome for animations, illustrations, and much of the information is more up to date.
I actually tried to go paperless for the year. I bought myself a used tablet pc, and wrote all of my notes off of that. I thought that it would help to take a weight off, and be good for the environment. But I was getting pounding headaches from looking at the computer screen all day. now I just print out my notes and read off of that and paper books, and use the electronic resources to supplement my learning. this has been much more effective for me. |
